The quality early education programs within CSSU provide early childhood experiences that foster social, emotional, physical, cognitive and language development through enriching experiences and positive relationships. Vermont’s new Universal Pre-K law (Act 166) provides publicly funded Pre-K for children ages 3-5 years old. Children are entitled to quality preschool experiences for 10 hours per week for 35 weeks. Parents may choose to enroll in a preschool program in the school (by lottery) or in a pre-qualified community-based program. Our school-based and community-based programs encourage children to explore new ways of expressing themselves through a balance of quiet, active, large group, small group and individual activities. Through these experiences, children develop positive relationships with others as well as a sense of themselves as competent learners.
